4 Types of Hauntings
Types of Hauntings
A haunting is a type of paranormal phenomenon. There are no scientific explanations for hauntings yet but parapsychologists and paranormal investigators continue to look for answers. Below are some common types of hauntings:
1) Residual Haunting
A Residual Haunting is the most common type of haunting. It can occur when something traumatic or stressful occurs, such as murder or a rape. In most cases, the ghost or spirit doesn't interact with the person who are witnessing it. This type of sighting is caused by a past traumatic event that happened either at, or near, the location at the time of the persons death.
In this type of haunting there is no interaction between you and the entity. Residual hauntings, therefore are the records of energy or spirit that have been imprinted in the area where the event took place. They are not in direct communication with the living. In fact, they are quite harmless. You are more likely to observe these hauntings in older buildings, homes and battlefields.
It is a good idea to do some historical research of a location to determine the event that might have caused the haunting.
2) Poltergeist Haunting
The word poltergeist means "noisy ghost." This term comes from the German words "poltern" which means to make noise, and "geist" means ghost. Poltergeist hauntings usually are identified by objects that are moved, hidden, thrown, disturbing noises, interference with electronic devices, and even physical attacks. Objects have also been known to disappear and reappear.
Psychokinesis(PK) is the power to move objects with the mind, consciously or unconsciously. Many shows are based on Poltergeist haunting because it tends to be the most terrifying and rarest type of haunting that occurs.
This can happen due to a compounding of some overwhelming stress or emotional anger the person is suffering from in their life. Most of the time, in the case of a poltergeist, the haunting circles around a female in her teen years, however, they are not limited to that group. This haunting is hard to classify due to certain situations.
Most of the time you will find that one person from a family is more affected by the haunting than anyone else. It may seem that most of the activity doesn't happen unless that certain person is present. Usually, the activity appears to stop when that person leaves the house. This type of haunting are is experienced by several persons, but they seem to center around one certain person.
3) Demonic Haunting
In demonic hauntings , the main goal of the demon is to break down a person's free will so that it may take over, or possess the individual. The spirit enters into your home with the aim of destroy all that is good or sacred. The demon can possess not only people, but can also attach itself to objects as well.
These creatures are very strong, unlike human spirits, and they don't mind showing it. There have been cases where people have been thrown through the air and even attacked. Apparently, their main aim is to break the will of person so that they can makeover for possession. This can take days, months or years, but time is of no concern to them.
They have hatred for mankind that dates back to the days of God and Lucifer. They have lived for millennia and will be here long after we are gone. So, you must understand that though you may be able to get these creatures to leave a dwelling with religious provocation, you will never destroy them.
These types of hauntings may seem non-threatening at first but they may appear similar to Poltergeist hauntings because they usually start out with slight disturbances, such as knocking noises, furniture being moved. However, things get much worse as time goes on.
The demons may appear as a dark shadow in a home or may first show itself as a benevolent spirit. The demon goes on to reveal itself by extreme temperature changes and physical attacks.
They even have the ability to transform or shape shift from human to animal. The demon will lay in wait to strike at a time when an individual is weak. It then becomes stronger when it senses fear. During that time a possession can occur.
Some signs of a possession would be that the possessed individual could become fluent in other languages, speak in tongues, has gained knowledge in subjects previously unknown and attempt to cause harm to others prior to being affected by the possession.
This type of haunting is not easily resolved and would require an exorcism. Seek guidance and help from highly trained paranormal investigators and other familiar with demon hauntings.
4) An Intelligent Haunting
An intelligent haunting is also known as a traditional haunting. It is called intelligent due to the fact that the spirit is aware of, and able to interact and communicate with those in the living world.
These spirits want to get the attention of the living. They can move or hide objects, send signals, interact with equipment, or even speak to you in order to do so.
There can be many reasons why an intelligent haunting occurs. In many cases, some entities choose to stick around for their loved ones. Some are unaware that they have died because it happened so suddenly. other times, the spirit may not be visible but you can detect them by feeling a coldspot, experiencing chills and goosebumps, or feeling as if someone is staring at you. Most of the spirits are not malicious. In fact, they just want to be noticed and have their message heard.
